About

Directed by Sandra Cortesi, in partnership with Youth and Media at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, UNICEF, and the IA+SIC, Youth and AI undertakes a multidisciplinary exploration into the intersection of youth (aged 12-18) and artificial intelligence (AI).

With a commitment to advancing the frontiers of interdisciplinary research, Youth and AI brings together researchers from diverse fields such as communication, computer science, business, psychology, sociology, education, and law, to study AI-based technologies and their impact on various aspects of young people’s lives, including education, health, well-being, entertainment, and the future of work.

By placing youth (through participatory research) at the forefront of our inquiries, not merely as subjects but as active participants and co-creators of knowledge, Youth and AI seeks to redefine the very processes through which we investigate, develop, and implement solutions. Our commitment to engaging youth voices and perspectives is rooted in the belief that they hold a profound stake in the evolution of our digital society. Young people should not be merely passive recipients of our decisions on how we design technologies and shape our futures; they have to be co-architects with a seat at the table from which we can learn based on their insights, lived experiences, and hopes for the future. By amplifying the voices of young people and centering their experiences, we are not only shaping a more equitable and responsive digital future but also fostering a generation that is equipped to navigate the complex terrain of the digital world with confidence and resilience.
